The Man on the Iron Horse: "Things fall Apart" - Ch. 15 + 16

"There was a long silence. Uchendu ground his teeth together audibly. Then he burst out:
'Never kill a man who says nothing. Those men of Abame were fools. What did they know about the man?' He ground his teeth again and told a story to illustrate his point" (Achebe 140).

In these two chapters, we return to Okonkwo who has settled in his new town of Mbanta. However, while he has been gone, strange things are beginning to happen. Not only are more white men coming into the picture, but villages are being to be destroyed too. The quote above is spoken by Uchendu, the leader of Mbanta. Basically, a village was destroyed after they killed a man and tied him up with his iron horse (bicycle). He says you should never kill a man who says nothing. What he means is that you should not kill something that you do not know of because you don't know the consequences. I definitely believe that the white people should be taken care of cautiously because they have much more advanced machinery. Okonkwo might have to go back to save his village whether he is aloud to or not.
